J. Jorge Barrieu, the creator and founder of Sophianic Healing, is a natural born teacher and a gifted healer as well as an acknowledged and respected spiritual counselor.
Always an avid student of life, Jorge has had a dynamic intellectual curiosity and deep connection to Spirit since early childhood. He developed the process of Sophianic Healing as a synthesis of his rich and varied educational background, his explorations of human nature and spirituality and his many years of experience working with individual healing clients.
Jorge formally began his healing studies when he studied Reiki with John Harvey Gray (one of the original 22 Reiki Master Instructors created by Hawayo Takata, the Japanese-American woman who first brought Reiki to the West). He eventually went on to become a Level II certified Reiki practitioner. He is also a graduate of the world-renowned Barbara Brennan School of Healing ("BBSH") where he completed a rigorous four year training program in hands-on energy healing and personal growth. Jorge also completed the Advanced Studies training in Brennan Integration Work at BBSH, which certifies him to work as a Brennan Integration Practitioner (or "BIP") and supervisor with students of BBSH. Most recently, he was a member of the BBSH faculty through the Advanced Studies Teacher Training program, which qualifies him to teach at the school.
Jorge also attended A Society of Souls where he undertook a three year training program in Integrated Kabbalistic Healing. Developed by internationally known spiritual teacher Jason Shulman, Integrated Kabbalistic Healing is based on the wisdom of the Kabbalah, the Jewish esoteric tradition. Jorge is also an ordained minister through Sanctuary of the Beloved, a non-denominational church, in the Order of Melchizedek.
Prior to commencing his formal training in healing, Jorge pursued his life-long interest in healing and the life sciences as a pre-med student at Yale University where he received a B.A. in biology. Although he had originally planned to attend medical school, he instead went on to earn a J.D. law degree from New York University School of Law and had a successful career as a corporate attorney for over 13 years.
Jorge has been working in the healing arts for more than 15 years and has had a successful healing practice for over 11 years, maintaining a daily practice of working with clients with a wide variety of conditions. During this time, he has also worked with members of the medical staff of the Pain Management Center at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan (prior to its closing in 2008) in the holistic care of some of their patients.
Jorge feels deeply inspired to assist in the evolution of humanity’s consciousness through his healing work. His unique gift is to make the lessons of his own spiritual awakening accessible to others. Through his compassionate presence and his skills as an intuitive and empathic healer, he inspires his clients to go within to discover their own enlightened true nature.

practice in Manhattan.
